In this blog, a brief comparison is given between iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3.
Samsung Galaxy 3 and the iPhone are the best Smartphones available on the market today. Despite the major differences in platforms and software, the two phones offer resembling performances; therefore it is difficult to establish a winner.
Samsung Galaxy has a screen of 4.8 inches, being one of the biggest on the market, while the iPhone has a display of only 4 inches. Galaxy uses the Android platform, while the iPhone works on iOS.
The first difference that you see for those phones is the size. The iPhone is compact, thinner and lighter, so you can hold it better in your hand, and this might be its main advantage.
Even if the screen of Samsung is wider, you can still use it with one hand, and even cover the whole surface of the screen with a single finger. This means that, even if the screen of the Galaxy is bigger, both phones can easily be handled by users.
As for design, the iPhone is robust, winning points because of aluminium and glass, but you don’t have access to memory cards.
Probably one of the major differences between the SGS3 and the iPhone 5 is the screen. SGS3 has an AMOLED screen of 4.8 inches, and a resolution of 720×1280 pixels, while Apple uses an IPS TFT screen with a resolution of 640×1136 pixels.
Both have the format 16:9, and even if the iPhone has a better density of pixels, the differences are hard to determine. However, the iPhone 5 has a lighter screen, more efficient indirect light of the sun, and a perfect display of colours. As a result, the screen of the iPhone 5 is more performing, but for everyday use, the differences are not so huge.
SGS3 might seem more powerful than the iPhone 5, because of the Exynos platforms with a Quad-Core processor, compared with the Krait processor of the iPhone. However, the optimization of the iPhone hardware with the platform is essential, therefore the iPhone performs better on all the chapters.
SGS3 comes with the Android 4.0 operating system, which the TouchWiz interface. The iPhone comes with the new iOS 6. The difference between those operating systems is controversial.
The iOS is intuitive, and simple to use even by beginners, but the Android comes with different options for personalization, which is appreciated by advanced users.
IOS is simpler, but it is not so customizable. As for applications, Galaxy S3 benefits from numerous free Apps from Google Play. Apple also has a large number of applications in the App Store, but the best ones are paid. As a result, the iPhone is a lot better when it comes to apps, but only if the user is willing to invest in it.
Both phones come with preinstalled applications, but SGS3 is more suited for games, because of the wider screen. However, both phones offer a great experience in this chapter.
As for media, both devices are able to display photos, audio and video files with high fidelity, so we don’t have a clear winner here.
